At Rising Above Wrestling (RAW) Rochester, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide inner-city youth with access to wrestling, mentorship, and positive role models in a safe and structured environment. Every practice, every drill, and every moment on the mat is built around helping kids develop discipline, confidence, and resilience, skills that extend far beyond the sport itself.

But like any meaningful community program, RAW Rochester does not run on passion alone.

To keep this program alive, and to allow it to grow, we rely on donations, sponsorships, and community support.

The Reality of Running a Youth Wrestling Program

RAW Rochester is proud to offer a high-quality youth wrestling program that is accessible to families regardless of financial background. That accessibility comes with real and ongoing costs, including:

Facility usage and overhead – mat space, utilities, insurance, and maintenance
Coaches and instructors – compensating qualified coaches who invest time, energy, and mentorship into our athletes
Wrestling equipment – mats, headgear, shoes, training gear, and safety equipment
Program growth expenses – expanding practice opportunities, adding sessions, and serving more youth

These are not one-time expenses. They are recurring costs that make it possible for RAW Rochester to exist week after week.
